Bradbury, William Batchelder – 1816-1868; American, Baptist. Bradbury was raised on a farm but his family moved to Boston when he was about 15. Wade, John Francis – 1711-1786; English, Roman Catholic, Musician. Wade fled to France after the Jacobite Rebellion was put down. Williams, Thomas John – 1869-1944; Welch, Baptist. Williams was an insurance business owner, but held a degree in music and was church organist. He wrote quite a few hymn tunes.

Willis, Richard S. – 1819-1900; American. Willis was a composer and music critic. While in Germany to study music, Willis became friends with Felix Mendelssohn.

Wilson, Hugh – 1766-1824; Scottish, member of the Secession Church. A man of various talents, Wilson was a shoemaker, part-time teacher in his village school, and manager and precentor in the church in Duntocher. He is known for only two psalm tunes because he instructed that all of his manuscripts be destroyed at his death.
